Livia Djurdjevic (she/her)
BA, MSW, RSW, Dip. Addictions
I am a Registered Social Worker, specializing in Mental Health.

I received a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology with a Minor in Sociology from Wilfrid Laurier University in 2007. Subsequently, I completed a Masters Degree in Social Work in 2009, also from WLU, and a Diploma in Addiction Studies from McMaster University.

My work experience following graduation includes outpatient Addiction Counselling at a community agency, Mental Health and Addiction Counselling services on an outpatient basis at a public hospital and a Management Role at the same hospital. Finally, I returned to frontline work, where I provided intensive inpatient therapy at a private Mental Health and Addiction treatment facility. My journey has brought me to a place of readiness to provide exceptional mental health care on my own.
Throughout my career, I have taken every opportunity to receive more education and improve my skills as a Therapist, and this is something I will continue to do. Some highlights of my continued education include, but are not limited to: Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Grief Counselling, Polyvagal Theory, and Emotionally-Focused Individual Therapy.
Aside from education centred on treatment techniques, I have also immersed myself in opportunities to learn about specific groups of people who are often marginalized, underserved, and sometimes misunderstood. I have education and experience in Women's Mental Health and in Supporting Neurodiverse Clients. Indigenous Cultural Competency and Bystander to Ally courses have supported my approach when working with First Nations, Inuit and Métis clients. Some of my most rewarding and impactful learning and work experience has been in supporting 2SLGBTQAI++ folks. Working with trauma over the years has been an excellent opportunity to learn more about recognizing and treating dissociative disorders.

There is no normal life that is free of pain. It's the very wrestling with our problems that can be the impetus for our growth.
